2205 Stainless Steel Properties

Strength: 2205 stainless steel has high strength, making it suitable for applications that require high mechanical strength. It has a minimum tensile strength of 620 MPa and a minimum yield strength of 450 MPa.

Corrosion Resistance: 2205 stainless steel is known for its excellent corrosion resistance in a wide range of environments, including seawater, acidic, and chloride-containing environments. It is resistant to pitting, crevice corrosion, and stress corrosion cracking.

Weldability: 2205 stainless steel is known for its good weldability, making it a popular choice for welding, brazing, and soldering. It can be welded using common welding techniques, such as TIG, MIG, and stick welding.

Heat Resistance: 2205 stainless steel has good heat resistance up to 300°C (572°F). It can be used in high-temperature applications such as heat exchangers and exhaust systems.

Duplex Structure: 2205 stainless steel has a duplex structure, which means it has equal amounts of ferrite and austenite. This structure provides a combination of high strength and excellent corrosion resistance.

Machinability: 2205 stainless steel has moderate machinability due to its high strength and duplex structure. It can be machined using common machining techniques, but may require special tools and techniques.
