Carbon steel sheets are one of the most common types of steel. The specific type of carbon steel sheet is selected based on how it will be used.Carbon structural steel plate refers to carbon steel with less than 0.8% carbon. This kind of steel contains less sulfur, phosphorus and non-metallic inclusions than carbon structural steel, and has better mechanical properties. What is the material of carbon steel plate?

What are the advantages and disadvantages of carbon steel plate?

Its advantages are:

  1. After heat treatment, the hardness and wear resistance can be improved.
  2. Proper hardness and good machinability during annealing.
  3. Its raw materials are very common, so it is easy to find, so the production cost is not high.

Its disadvantages are:

  1. Its thermal hardness is not good. When it is used as tool material, the hardness and wear resistance will become worse when the temperature exceeds 200 ℃.
  2. Its hardenability is not good. Its diameter is usually maintained at 15 to 18 mm when it is water quenched, while its diameter and thickness are usually 6 mm when it is not quenched. Therefore, it is prone to deformation or cracking.
