318 Stainless Steel Properties

Corrosion Resistance: 318 stainless steel is known for its excellent corrosion resistance in highly corrosive environments, including acidic and alkaline environments. It is resistant to corrosion from chemicals, solvents, and salts.

Strength: 318 stainless steel has higher strength compared to other austenitic stainless steels such as 304 and 316. It has a minimum tensile strength of 620 MPa and a minimum yield strength of 275 MPa.

Weldability: 318 stainless steel is known for its good weldability, making it a popular choice for welding, brazing, and soldering. It can be welded using common welding techniques, such as TIG, MIG, and stick welding.

Ductility: 318 stainless steel has good ductility, which means that it can be easily formed and shaped without cracking or breaking. This property makes it ideal for applications that require complex shapes or designs.

Magnetic Properties: 318 stainless steel is non-magnetic in the annealed condition but may become slightly magnetic after cold working.

Heat Resistance: 318 stainless steel has excellent heat resistance up to 925°C (1700°F). It can be used in high-temperature applications such as furnace parts, heat exchangers, and exhaust systems.
